Dr. Kerry Muhlestein - on his episode of the Church History Matters
Podcast - notes an interesting parallel between this parable and an
ancient Egyptian story about Osiris called Setna II. The overall story
structure is similar, with the role of Osiris being replaced by Abraham.
It is possible Jesus learned this story in His youth as He and His
parents lived in Egypt after being forced to flee.
